Scale
- 1 cup long grain white rice
- 1 (10 ounce) can beef broth (can use low sodium)
- 1 (10 ounce) can condensed French onion soup (can use low sodium)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, thinly sliced
Instructions
- Prep the Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 425°F, then spray an 8×8-inch baking dish with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Combine Rice and Liquids: Add the rice, beef broth, and condensed French onion soup to the prepared baking dish. Stir all the ingredients together to ensure the rice is evenly distributed and well soaked.
- Add Butter: Evenly arrange the thin slices of butter over the top of the rice mixture. This will help create a rich and tender texture throughout the rice.
- Cover and Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes to allow the rice to start absorbing the liquids.
- Uncover and Finish Baking: Remove the foil after 30 minutes, then continue to bake the rice uncovered for an additional 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Serve: Serve the Stick of Butter Rice hot, straight from the oven. Enjoy as a hearty side dish with your favorite main course.
Notes
- You can substitute low sodium beef broth and condensed soup for a lower salt version.
- If you prefer a crispier top, broil for 2-3 additional minutes after baking.
- Add in cooked mushrooms or onions for extra flavor and texture.
- This dish pairs well with grilled meats or roasted vegetables.
