Description

These Slow Cooker Mississippi Smokies are a crowd-pleasing appetizer that’s perfect for parties, game days, or any casual gathering. Little smokies sausages are simmered in a tangy and savory sauce made with butter, pepperoncini peppers, and a blend of ranch dressing and au jus gravy mix. This easy recipe is a guaranteed hit!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 packages little smokies sausages (12 ounces each)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, sliced
  • 1 cup pepperoncini peppers (whole, chopped, or sliced)
  • 1/2 cup pepperoncini juice (or low-sodium beef broth or water)
  • 1 package ranch seasoning mix (1 ounce)
  • 1 package au jus gravy mix (1 ounce)

Optional Garnish:

  • Freshly chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: Place the little smokies in the slow cooker. Pour pepperoncini juice over them. Sprinkle with ranch seasoning mix and au jus gravy mix, stirring to combine. Add sliced butter and pepperoncini peppers on top.
  2. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, or until sausages are heated through and the sauce is bubbling. Stir halfway through the cooking time.
  3. Serve: Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Stir the sausages halfway through cooking for even heating.
  • Avoid adding extra salt, as the seasoning mixes and sausages already contain sodium. Use low-sodium or salt-free broth if substituting for pepperoncini juice.
  • Let the dish cool before storing to prevent condensation from making the gravy watery.
  • Use crockpot liners for easier cleanup.
