Description

This Instant Pot Applesauce is a quick and easy way to enjoy a classic homemade treat. With just a few simple ingredients and your Instant Pot, you can have delicious and healthy applesauce ready in minutes. This recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or when you’re craving a comforting and wholesome snack.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 10 medium apples (such as Gala, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious), peeled, cored, and quartered
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare Apples: Wash, peel, core, and quarter the apples.
  2. Pressure Cook: Place the apples, water, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon (if using), and salt in the Instant Pot. Close the lid and set the vent to “sealing.” Select the “Manual” setting and cook on high pressure for 5 minutes.
  3. Natural Release: Allow the pressure to release naturally for 20 minutes.
  4. Mash or Purée: Open the lid and mash the apples with a potato masher or purée with an immersion blender until desired consistency is reached. If too watery, use the “Sauté” function to cook off excess liquid.
  5. Cool and Store: Let the applesauce cool completely. Transfer to an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to a week or freeze for longer storage.

Notes

  • Use a mix of apple varieties for a more complex flavor.
  • Adjust the amount of sugar to your liking or use alternative sweeteners.
  • Add ground cinnamon or other spices for extra warmth.
  • Choose your preferred consistency by using a potato masher or immersion blender.
  • Leave room for expansion when freezing the applesauce.
