For the Mozzarella Sticks:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups Panko breadcrumbs
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese, cut into pieces 3-inch x 3/4 inch (or 12 oz string cheese cut in half)
For Serving:
- Homemade marinara sauce, for dipping
- 1 quart vegetable oil
Instructions
- Prepare the Mozzarella Sticks: Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Mix flour with salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl. Beat eggs with water in another bowl. Combine Panko and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
- Dip and Coat: Dip each cheese piece in the egg mixture, then flour, back in the egg, and coat with Panko. Place on the prepared baking sheet and freeze for 45 minutes.
- Fry the Sticks: Heat oil to 350°F. Fry cheese sticks in batches until golden brown, about 2 minutes per batch. Drain on a cooling rack.
- Serve: Serve immediately with marinara sauce.
