For the Cake:

For the Layers:
- 1 can cherry pie filling (540 milliliters, 18 ounces)
- 1 package instant vanilla pudding mix (102 grams, 3.6 ounces)
- 1 1/2 cups 2% milk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 8 ounces Cool Whip
- Sliced almonds for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cut the cake: Slice the cooled angel food cake into 1-inch cubes.
- Layer the cake: Place half of the cake cubes in a 9×9 cake pan.
- Add cherry filling: Spread 2/3 of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer.
- Repeat: Add the remaining cake cubes on top of the cherry layer.
- Prepare pudding: Mix the pudding mix, milk, and sour cream until smooth. Spread over the cake.
- Add Cool Whip: Spread Cool Whip over the pudding layer.
- Top with cherries: Spread the remaining cherry filling over the Cool Whip layer.
- Chill: Refrigerate the cake for 4-5 hours before serving.
