Description

This spooky Halloween Feet Loaf is a fun and delicious twist on traditional meatloaf, shaped like creepy feet with onion rings as toes and ketchup to add a gory effect. Perfect for Halloween parties or themed family dinners, this ground beef meatloaf is easy to prepare, baked to perfection, and served with your favorite condiments like ketchup or brown gravy.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 2 lbs Ground Beef
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 Cups Panko Crumbs
  • 1 Packet Au Jus Mix
  • 1/2 tsp Freshly Cracked Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Dry Mustard
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 Medium Yellow Onion
  • 1 Cup Ketchup

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the meatloaf feet.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients and Seasonings: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, au jus packet, freshly cracked pepper, dry mustard, and onion powder until well combined.
  3. Combine with Ground Beef and Panko: Add the ground beef and panko crumbs to the bowl and gently mix until just combined. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender.
  4. Form the Feet Shapes: Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions. Place each half onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and mold each into a foot-shaped loaf.
  5. Prepare Onion Toenails and Stump: Slice a thick piece of the yellow onion and remove individual rings to create toenail shapes for each toe. Use two smaller onion rings to form the ankle stump at the top of each foot.
  6. Assemble the Decorative Features: Place the onion rings over the toes and ankle stump on the meatloaf feet. Spoon some ketchup over each onion ring, spreading it slightly so it drips down the sides mimicking a bloody effect.
  7. Bake the Meatloaf Feet: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 40-50 minutes until the center is thoroughly cooked and meat reaches a safe internal temperature.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the meatloaf feet to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy with ketchup, stewed tomatoes, or brown gravy as preferred.

Notes

  • Do not overmix the meat mixture to prevent a dense meatloaf.
  • Use parchment paper or a non-stick baking sheet to easily remove meatloaf feet after baking.
  • Check doneness by ensuring the internal temperature reaches 160°F for ground beef.
  • Customize the ‘toenails’ by using darker onion rings or adding small bits of bell pepper for extra color effect.
  • Serve with your favorite condiments to enhance flavor, such as brown gravy, ketchup, or stewed tomatoes.
