Ingredients

Units Scale

Syrup Mixture

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

Grapes and Coating

  • 3 cups seedless grapes
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Make the Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water. Stir the mixture continuously over medium heat until the sugar completely dissolves and turns into a clear liquid. Remove from heat and allow it to cool to room temperature.
  2. Coat the Grapes
Add the seedless grapes to the sugar syrup. Gently stir around to ensure all the grapes are evenly coated with the syrup.
  3. Dry the Grapes
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the syrup-coated grapes onto a wired rack placed over a sheet tray. Ensure the grapes are spaced out and not touching each other. Let them sit for approximately 1 hour so the syrup sets.
  4. Roll in Sugar
Spread the remaining 1/2 cup of sugar on a flat plate. Roll the grapes one by one in the sugar, ensuring they are completely coated. Repeat for all the grapes.
  5. Final Drying and Serve
Place the sugar-coated grapes back onto the wired rack or tray. Let them sit for an additional hour to fully set. Serve immediately, or enjoy as a snack or decoration for cakes and desserts.

Notes

  • You can use red, green, or any variety of seedless grapes based on your preference.
  • Experiment with other coatings such as crushed candies, shredded coconut, or powdered sugar.
  • The candied grapes can be frozen for a refreshing treat. Freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring them to a container or bag.
  • These grapes double as a decorative addition; they’re excellent for topping cakes or desserts.
