Description

This Cinnamon French Toast Bake is a warm and comforting breakfast or brunch dish, perfect for feeding a crowd. Cinnamon bread is soaked in a rich custard and baked until golden, with a crunchy pecan topping. It’s an easy and delicious way to enjoy French toast without standing at the stove.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 loaves cinnamon bread, about 14 slices
  • 1/2 cup pecans, chopped
  • Maple syrup, as desired for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dish: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush melted butter on the bottom and sides of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk Custard: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Dredge Bread: Quickly dredge each slice of cinnamon bread in the custard mixture and arrange in the baking dish.
  4. Pour and Top: Pour remaining custard over the bread and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  5. Bake: Bake for 22-25 minutes, until bread is browned and cooked through.
  6. Serve: Drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar, if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • You can use brioche or challah bread instead of cinnamon bread.
  • For a richer flavor, let the bread soak in the custard for 30 minutes before baking.
  • Add fresh berries or whipped cream as toppings.
