Ingredients
Scale
Bread and Spreads
- 16 slices crustless bread (thinly sliced, white or wholegrain)
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise (or to your liking)
- Mustard (optional)
Fillings
- 8 slices cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, edam, or your choice)
- 8 slices deli ham (use 2 slices per sandwich if thinly sliced)
Instructions
- Prepare the bread: Lay out 8 slices of crustless bread on a clean surface and spread mayonnaise evenly over one side of each slice.
- Add cheese and ham: Top each of the mayo-spread slices with one slice of cheese followed by one slice of deli ham, distributing evenly.
- Optional mustard and assemble: If desired, spread a thin layer of mustard over the ham slices for added flavor, then cover each with a second slice of bread to form sandwiches.
- Cut into tree shapes: Using a tree-shaped cookie cutter, press firmly into each sandwich and cut out 2 tree shapes from each sandwich, creating festive mini Christmas tree sandwiches.
Notes
- You can use bread with crust and remove the crust yourself; wholegrain bread works well as a substitute for white bread. Ensure bread is thinly sliced for best results.
- Choose any cheese you prefer such as cheddar, mozzarella, gouda, or edam to suit your taste.
- If the ham slices are very thin, consider using two slices per sandwich for better filling.
- Mustard is optional and can be omitted if preferred.
