Description

This festive Christmas Guacamole Wreath Appetizer is a vibrant and delicious twist on classic guacamole, perfect for holiday gatherings. Made with ripe avocados, diced tomatoes with green chilies, fresh lime juice, and a blend of herbs and spices, it’s artfully arranged in a wreath shape and garnished with cherry tomatoes and cilantro leaves for a beautiful presentation. Serve with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables for a crowd-pleasing holiday snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole

  • 6 ripe avocados
  • 2 cans RO*TEL® Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies (10 ounces each), drained well
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ cup red onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • Salt, to taste

Garnish and Serving

  • Cherry tomatoes, for garnish
  • Cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Tortilla chips or vegetables, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare Avocados: Pit and peel the avocados, then place them in a large bowl. Coarsely mash them using a fork or potato masher until you achieve a chunky texture.
  2. Add Flavorings: Add the drained RO*TEL diced tomatoes and green chilies, lime juice, chopped red onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, and chopped fresh cilantro to the mashed avocados. Mix all ingredients thoroughly to combine the flavors evenly.
  3. Season: Taste the guacamole mixture and add salt as needed to enhance the flavors.
  4. Form Wreath Mold: Place a small bowl in the center of a larger shallow bowl. This will be used as a mold to shape the guacamole wreath.
  5. Shape the Wreath: Spoon the guacamole mixture into the larger bowl around the small bowl, forming a ring or wreath shape of guacamole.
  6. Remove Mold: Carefully lift and remove the small bowl from the center, leaving a hollow wreath shape in the guacamole.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Decorate the guacamole wreath with cherry tomatoes and cilantro leaves for a festive look. Serve immediately alongside tortilla chips or fresh vegetables for dipping and enjoy your holiday appetizer!

Notes

  • Ensure avocados are ripe for the best creamy texture and flavor.
  • Drain the RO*TEL tomatoes well to prevent the guacamole from becoming too watery.
  • Adjust lime juice and salt to taste based on personal preference.
  • This recipe serves approximately 12 guests as an appetizer.
  • You can substitute the cherry tomatoes and cilantro garnishes with other colorful fresh vegetables if desired.
