Base Ingredients
- 5 cups mini marshmallows
- 6 cups orange Kellogg Rice Krispies cereal (or regular Rice Krispies with orange gel food coloring)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
Decoration
- 1 premade green icing bag
- 1 premade orange icing bag
Instructions
- Prepare your pan
Line a 13×9 inch pan or baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper, and spray it with nonstick cooking spray. This ensures easy removal of the Rice Krispie mixture later. - Melt the butter
In a deep skillet, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. - Melt the marshmallows
Add mini marshmallows to the melted butter and stir continuously until the marshmallows are completely melted and form a smooth mixture. - Incorporate the cereal
Once the marshmallow mixture is ready, add the orange Kellogg Rice Krispies cereal (or dyed cereal if using the regular variety). Stir until the cereal is thoroughly coated with the marshmallow mixture. - Spread and cool
Using a spatula sprayed with nonstick cooking spray, spread the Rice Krispie mixture evenly into the prepared pan. Flatten it into an even layer and let it cool completely. - Cut carrot shapes
Once cooled, use a carrot-shaped cookie cutter to cut out the treats. Snack on or discard any excess edges. - Decorate
Outline and fill the tops of the carrot shapes with green icing for the carrot leaves, and use the orange icing to decorate the body of the carrots. For additional detail, you can add extra orange lines across the carrot for dimension. - Serve or store
Enjoy the treats immediately, or store them in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
Notes
- Carrot cookie cutter: You can find carrot cookie cutters online or in craft stores.
- Dyeing Rice Krispies: If you cannot find orange-colored Rice Krispies, simply add orange gel food dye to the melted marshmallow mixture before incorporating the cereal. Stir well to ensure an even color.
- Texture tip: For a cleaner cut, pack the Rice Krispies mixture tightly into the pan. It will still be soft but less gooey compared to loosely packed treats.
- Extra decoration: While additional details like lines for dimension can enhance appearance, keep in mind it can increase the sweetness level.
